July 2001 – Present

Telstra – IP Data Networks BSS/OSS Target Architecture Definition

Position

My role in this project is to define:

·         The target architecture for Telstra’s IP Data Networks BSS and OSS systems.

·         Develop the Data Architecture to support the BSS and OSS systems, based on the DMTF CIM definition.

·         Define BSS and OSS component integration methods using various techniques including TIBCO Active Enterprise.

Scope

Definition of the target architecture for Telstra’s IP Data Networks BSS and OSS systems.

Highlights

Ongoing developing worlds best practise BSS and OSS functionality through end to end business process integration..

 

Feb 2001 – July 2001

Telstra – Common Information Model (CIM)

Position

My role in this project is to define:

·         The preliminary CIM fo the Telstra EAI infrastructure.

·         Develop standards for EAI and CIM Development

·         Develop a method for future CIM development in Telstra.

Scope

Definition of the initial Common Information Model (CIM) for the Telstra EAI Plot.

Highlights

CIM was delivered on time and 80% has already achieved reuse in an unrelated project.

The CIM development template I developed has been adopted for use by projects to define their CIM.

 

Nov 1999 – Feb 2000

IBM – Tender Response to Telstra Data Mode of Operation RFT

Position

As a member of the IBM RFT Response team I was the Architect responsible for the conceptual and logical design and costing for the Adaptor technology that formed an intergral part of the EAI Plot in the tender response.

Scope

IBM’s Tender Response to Telstra DMO project Request For Tender.

Highlights

My conceptual design and costs were adopted in the IBM tender response.

All deliverables for this assignment were delivered on time.

 

Jun 1999 – Sept 1999

Telstra - Data Mode of Operation (DMO) Business Case Development

Position

As a Consulting member of the DMO Systems Management Architecture team I was responsible for the conceptual solution to address the applications security and privacy issues.

DMO is one of Telstra's major strategic initiatives.  DMO was challenged with 2 major objectives:

·         Take the organization from a Service centred business model to a Customer centred business model

·         Move the organizations technology away from that of traditional telephony to a digital and IP future.

Scope

DMO Systems Management Business Case development for Telstra Board approval.

Member of Architecture team of 5

Highlights

Developed the conceptual solution that addressed the security and privacy issues of the proposed applications.

Presented conceptual architecture to key group managers in Telstra.

The Conceptual Designs formed part of the request for tender documentation.

The conceptual designs became evaluation criteria for the architecture of each tender response.

The cost estimates developed formed the systems development cost of the DMO business case approved by the Telstra Board.

 

Jan 1999 – Oct 2000

Telstra - Wholesale Data Security (WDS)

Position

As architectural lead I was accountable for the:

·         Conceptual Design

·         Functional Design

·         System Impact Assessment (40 systems)

·         Architectural Consultancy through to implementation.

Scope

Project Lead Architect

Co-ordinator of 40 Application Architects

Highlights

Delivered 90% of requirements for 15% ($20Mil) of the estimated cost to delivery of 100% business requirements ($140Mil).

Given the legal nature of this project it was necessary for the solution to be accepted by Telstra Legal as well as the usual parties.  Constant communication between all parties ensured the solution was understood and accepted by all interested parties.

The solution that satisfies 100% of the project requirements could not be implemented in a single Telstra release window.  Working with the Application project teams, Business managers and Project manager I restructured the solution into 5 major releases.

Revised scope and design to reduce cost from $140Mil to $20Mil.

Phase 1 of WDS delivered change in 20 application systems.

Phase 2 of WDS delivered change in 10 application systems.

Architecture has been proven by its stability in production.

Achieved deployment in 40 systems on a single planned weekend.

Nov 1996 – Jun 1997

Ahold Information Systems (USA) - Tiered Promotions Project

Position

As architectural lead I was accountable for the:

·         Conceptual Design

·         Functional Design

·         Detailed Design

·         Team Leadership through Development

·         Architectural Consultancy through to implementation.

Scope

This project was responsible for the systems delivery to support the implementation of BI-LO’s strategic loyalty program.

Highlights

Successfully negotiated with corporate management to alter the scope of the project to ensure best value for the development dollar was achieved.

Designed and implemented a system that could be scaled and deployed across all Ahold Supermarket chains.

Since deployment for their BI-LO stores in 1997, Ahold have:

Deployed this system across their remaining 4 supermarket chains.

Integrated the system with their next generation systems

Delivered the project within 10% of budget.

Meet all project delivery dates.

During the construction phase I managed a team of three, the four of us developed and delivered to user testing 50 modules in 25 days.

 

Mar 1993 – Mar 1996

Telstra - AXIS project.

Position

Joined AXIS as a Senior Analyst

Scope

Having joined AXIS at the start of functional design I worked in many teams performing Design, Construction and Testing activities

Highlights

Functional Design

  • Provided impact analysis of proposed changes to be implemented
  • Performed analysis for the Service Delivery and Online Interfaces sub-systems
  • Scope releases
  • Defined the functional

Detailed Design

  • Developed the technical design for SDP Sub-System
  • Delivered a technical design document, program design specifications and unit test plans.

Construction

  • Developed and unit tested CICS COBOL DB2 software
  • Developed components of the Service Delivery sub-system

String Testing

  • Provided consultancy and support to the string test team

System Testing

  • Provided rapid support for the Service Delivery sub-system of AXIS.

Maintenance Phase

  • Provided System Architect and Lead Architect for Maintenance Releases
    • Managed and Scoped software maintenance releases
    •  Analysed and documented user requirements
    •  Prepared proposals for system or procedural solutions
    •  Detailed estimation of system development expense
    •  Designed system and procedural solutions
